EMCC’s Golden Triangle Campus offers new line worker utility program

SUMMARY: East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle Campus has started a Utility Lineworker Program with the help of a grant from AccelerateMS. The goal of the program is to provide local training for jobs with local openings. Students in the program will be prepared for entry-level work at utility companies, co-ops, or contractors in utility construction or excavation fields. The program received a grant of over $473,000, and after a semester of classes, students will be ready for these job opportunities. The next step for the class is to learn how to climb utility poles.
