Former state representative Deborah Dixon is certain to be on the board next year, as she has no opponents in November. The other woman on the board will either be radio station manager Wanda Evers or Allison Lauderdale, a veteran of the dental industry. Both candidates have outlined their priorities, with Lauderdale focusing on patching potholes and better maintaining county roads, while Evers wants a full audit of county finances and a pay raise for public works employees. In District 2, retired business owner Anthony Smith, who defeated incumbent David Archie in the primary, is facing Darrel McQuirter, a former supervisor. McQuirter highlights the economic development projects he helped push through during his previous term. In District 5, incumbent Bobcat McGowan is facing two independent challengers.
