Mississippi native Jamal Roberts advances to ‘American Idol’ top 3

Sen. Hyde-Smith honors fallen Mississippi officers in National Police Week tribute

SUMMARY: U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith honored four Mississippi law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during National Police Week. She paid tribute to George County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Malone, Summit Police Patrolman Troy Floyd, Mississippi Department of Public Safety liaison Michael Griffin, and George County Sheriff’s Office narcotics agent Robert Daffin, Jr. Malone and Floyd were shot in separate incidents in 2024, Griffin died in a 2023 accident, and Daffin passed in 2021 from COVID-19 complications.
