The Covington County School District has teamed up with the Mississippi State Department of Health to put new life-saving equipment, including Automated External Defibrillators (A-E-D), in local schools. The district has added A-E-D units in all school cafeterias, and they hope to place them in the gymnasiums and on each campus. The portable A-E-D units are used to help people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, and they can be used during athletic events. The goal is to have these A-E-D units become available in every school cafeteria and campus in the district.
