Court upholds convictions of man sentenced in fatal Party City shooting

SUMMARY: Joshua Archie’s convictions for the shooting death of a Party City manager were upheld by the Mississippi Supreme Court. Archie had appealed, claiming errors in the trial court’s denial of jury instructions, presentation of unauthenticated evidence, and ineffective trial counsel. The court found no error and affirmed his convictions. Archie was found guilty of capital murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery after his third trial. He was sentenced to life without parole for the murder and five years for the conspiracy charge. The state did not seek the death penalty. Prosecutors stated he was the main suspect in the 2012 armed robbery that resulted in the death of store manager Robert Adams.
