SUMMARY: Dr. Stanley Ellis, superintendent of the Columbus Municipal School District, has made it his mission to improve the district’s performance to a B. Last year, the district started the school year with 26 job vacancies, but this year things seem to be running more smoothly. The district has filled all positions for Student Support Officers (SSOs) and School Resource Officers (SROs), but bus drivers still remain a problem. The district is almost fully staffed with teachers, but there are still a few open positions. Ellis plans to evaluate the district’s progress after the first nine weeks of the school year.
