Colt Gray's student status revealed by GBI | FOX 5 News

SUMMARY: Fourteen-year-old Colt Gray enrolled at school on August 18, missing nine days before the shooting incident on September 4. After asking to visit the front office, Gray brought a gun and a knife in his backpack. The tragic event resulted in the deaths of two teachers and two students, with nine others injured. Gray is currently held at a youth detention center, and authorities are planning to pursue charges that will try him as an adult.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has revealed more details about the suspected gunman in the Apalachee High School shooting. Authorities say 14-year-old Colt Gray enrolled at the school on Aug. 18.

MLB is calling up its first female umpire, Jen Pawol

SUMMARY: Jen Pawol will become the first woman to umpire in Major League Baseball during games this weekend between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves. She will work bases on Saturday and the plate on Sunday at Truist Park. Pawol, 48, from New Jersey, previously umpired MLB spring training games in 2024 and 2025. Her MLB debut follows milestones in other sports: the NBA broke the gender barrier in 1997, the NFL in 2015, and the men’s soccer World Cup in 2022. Pawol played softball and soccer competitively, umpired NCAA softball, and progressed through MLB’s umpire training since 2015.

Emergency rental, utility assistance available for Augusta-Richmond County residents

SUMMARY: Augusta Housing & Community Development is accepting applications for the federally funded Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA2) Program to help eligible Augusta-Richmond County households cover rent, utilities, and related housing costs. Applicants must provide hard copies of documents including photo IDs for all adults, Social Security cards for all household members, current lease or mortgage agreements, payment histories, proof of income for the last two months, and eviction or utility notices if applicable. Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply online at augustaga.gov/ERA2 or in person at 510 Fenwick Street, Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m., with additional intake events scheduled throughout August.
