Colin Kaepernick to pay for independent autopsy of Delta State student found hanging
SUMMARY: Ben Crump, attorney for the family of Demartravion “Trey” Reed, announced that Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp Autopsy Initiative will fund an independent autopsy after Reed, 21, was found dead by hanging on Delta State University’s campus. Though a state autopsy ruled Reed’s death a suicide and no foul play was suspected, the family received conflicting information and sought a second autopsy. The initiative expedites autopsies in suspicious deaths free of charge. Investigations have been handed to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office, following a request from Rep. Bennie Thompson. Kaepernick, a former NFL player and activist, supports the family’s search for truth.

SUMMARY: Mississippi’s only major-league affiliated team, the Biloxi Shuckers, was eliminated from the 2025 Southern League playoffs after a 4-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits in game two of the Division Series. This marks the second consecutive year Montgomery has ousted Biloxi. The Shuckers finished the season 74-64, winning the South Division first-half title.
