Clinton house fire believed to be linked to Jackson homicide

SUMMARY: Clinton police believe a shooting and a house fire are linked to a Jackson homicide. On May 23, police responded to shots fired into a home on Cherry Park Boulevard; no injuries occurred. Investigators connected the drive-by shooting to a May 22 homicide in Jackson where Juan Taylor, 39, was killed on Medgar Evers Boulevard. Also on May 23, Clinton firefighters responded to a fire at the same home, reportedly started by two men using an accelerant. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage. Clinton and Jackson police are investigating the incidents, and Clinton police have increased patrols in the area.
