SUMMARY: As a member of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and the Mississippi Charter Schools Association, I’ve observed the challenges faced by Mississippi students and the transformative role of charter schools. Expanding charter schools can provide more personalized learning opportunities and foster healthy competition within the education system. To better serve families and address educational disparities, I urge the Mississippi Legislature to pass House Bill 1432, enabling charter schools to expand and improve access to quality education statewide.

SUMMARY: The American Red Cross is urging Mississippians to prepare for severe weather this weekend, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Preparation tips emphasize the importance of seeking shelter during thunderstorms, avoiding outdoor activities, and staying away from electrical equipment. In the event of tornadoes, individuals should understand the difference between a tornado watch and warning, seek shelter in a secure location, and know that mobile homes are unsafe in such situations. It is also crucial to stay informed through local radio or NOAA broadcasts and assist those needing special help. Always avoid flooded roads and report downed power lines.
