Charged with felony eluding and aggravated assault on law enforcement officer

SUMMARY: apprehended a , Jimmy Knighton, after reports of an SUV discharging a firearm and driving recklessly in Brighton Circle and Somerset Court. Knighton, driving a grey 2007 Toyota 4-Runner, struck several patrol vehicles during a police chase. No officers were , and the vehicle was eventually disabled by a spike strip. Knighton was charged with Felony Eluding and Aggravated Assault on a Enforcement Officer, with a bond set at $150,000 by Judge Fountain. The Criminal Investigations Division is handling the investigation.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
