SUMMARY: Since February, Jackson has been the focus of “Operation Unified,” a collaboration among federal, state, county, and city police to reduce crime. The initiative has resulted in 750 arrests and the seizure of over 250 firearms. Jackson’s Capitol Police, led by Chief Bo Lucky, will soon patrol a larger area extending from North Side Drive to Raymond Road as part of the Capitol Complex Improvement District (CCID). This expansion nearly doubles their jurisdiction. Capitol Police will lead criminal investigations while Jackson Police enforce city ordinances. The Capitol Police are also seeking to hire at least 30 more officers.
