Canton student arrested after gun, drugs found in classroom
SUMMARY: A student was arrested at Nichols Middle School in Canton for bringing a gun and drugs on campus. The incident occurred after a teacher smelled marijuana in a classroom and the principal conducted a search, resulting in the discovery of marijuana, a clip, and a gun. The student’s parents were notified, and the student was taken to the Youth Detention Center. The district’s chief of security and local law enforcement were also involved. Superintendent Gary Hannah emphasized the importance of student safety and commended the quick actions of the teacher and principal in addressing the situation.
