Canton Amazon employees gear up for holiday season
SUMMARY: Amazon's Canton facility, named JAN1, is the only robotic sorting center in Mississippi, with over 20 million items in inventory. The technology helps workers find ordered items quickly, preparing for longer shifts and busier days during the holidays to ensure packages arrive on time. Amazon's Regional Communications Manager, Divina Mims, states that the facility moves over a million packages a day on average, and nearly doubles that amount during peak weekends. Just a year ago, JAN1 was getting off the ground, but now has over 1800 employees and 7000 robots. Amazon is currently hiring for seasonal and part-time positions. This Thanksgiving week, employees are gearing up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

Family loses pets in mobile home fire in Jones Co.
SUMMARY: The content discusses the impact of climate change on agriculture, specifically focusing on the increased prevalence of pests and diseases. Climate change is creating more favorable conditions for certain pests to thrive, leading to greater crop damage and loss. This has significant implications for global food security and the livelihood of farmers, particularly in developing countries. To combat these challenges, farmers are being encouraged to adopt integrated pest management practices and use resistant crop varieties. Additionally, there is a need for global cooperation and investment in research and development to find sustainable solutions for managing pests and diseases in the face of climate change.
The mobile home was severely damaged, according to the Jones County Fire Council PIO Dana Bumgardner.

WTOK Toython kicks off with block party
SUMMARY: The party in front of the WT Studio building included live music and encouraged community members to donate gifts for kids aged 0 to 18. Last year, 1,200 toys were donated and this year even more are hoped for. The event was enjoyable with music, dancing, and people dropping off toys. It's important to continue this tradition each year to help families in need. The Toyon toy drive will be at Walmart on Highway 19 and Bonita Lakes from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. People can drop off toys and monetary donations to make a child's Christmas morning special. Any contribution, big or small, is appreciated.
