Canton Amazon employees gear up for holiday season

SUMMARY: Amazon's Canton facility, named JAN1, is the only robotic sorting center in Mississippi, with over 20 million items in inventory. The technology helps workers find ordered items quickly, preparing for longer shifts and busier days during the holidays to ensure packages arrive on time. Amazon's Regional Communications Manager, Divina Mims, states that the facility moves over a million packages a day on average, and nearly doubles that amount during peak weekends. Just a year ago, JAN1 was getting off the ground, but now has over 1800 employees and 7000 robots. Amazon is currently hiring for seasonal and part-time positions. This Thanksgiving week, employees are gearing up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
