Bond denied for teen who killed man at Jackson tennis complex
SUMMARY: A teen, Daveon Lindsey, was denied bond after killing Melvin McNair Jr. at a Jackson, Mississippi, tennis complex. Lindsey, 19, was apprehended following a police chase that ended with him crashing McNair’s stolen vehicle. The incident unfolded when officers located the suspect at a Walgreens near the crime scene. Lindsey confessed to multiple shootings of McNair with a pink assault rifle, then dragged him out of his truck, stole his wallet, and fled. The murder weapon was recovered at the crash scene. Chief Joseph Wade addressed the disturbance caused in the community, but a motive has not been disclosed.

SUMMARY: Ole Miss linebacker Tyler Banks has been named the 2025 Chucky Mullins Courage Award winner and will wear the No. 38 jersey in honor of Mullins. Banks, a senior from Virginia and three-year letterwinner, is the 35th recipient of the award, which honors Mullins, who was paralyzed during a 1989 game and passed away in 1991. Head coach Lane Kiffin praised Banks for his perseverance, leadership, and dedication on and off the field. Banks has played in all 39 games since 2022, mainly on special teams, and serves on the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The award recognizes courage and determination.
