Boil water notice lifted in Jackson following storm-related power outage
SUMMARY: Jackson, Mississippi residents have been notified by JXN Water that they can resume normal water usage as the boil water advisory has been lifted. The advisory was initially issued after severe storms on Thursday night caused a power outage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant in Ridgeland. Ted Henifin, the interim third-party manager for JXN Water, expressed gratitude for the patience of the community and the efforts of staff. He credited the swift recovery to the work and knowledge acquired over the past year. Henifin also acknowledged the Mississippi State Department of Health’s laboratory staff for their timely work, and noted that plans are being made with Entergy to ensure backup power capacity for the plant in the event of future severe weather.

SUMMARY: Mississippi’s only major-league affiliated team, the Biloxi Shuckers, was eliminated from the 2025 Southern League playoffs after a 4-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits in game two of the Division Series. This marks the second consecutive year Montgomery has ousted Biloxi. The Shuckers finished the season 74-64, winning the South Division first-half title. Manager Joe Ayrault, who battled and beat stage 3 colon cancer during the season, praised the team’s effort. Despite an early lead from Jesus Made’s homer and Blake Burke’s RBI single, Montgomery rallied in the eighth inning to win. Biloxi’s next season starts April 3, 2026.

Delta State officials counter rumors as investigation continues into Black student found hanging
SUMMARY: Delta State University and law enforcement held a press conference regarding the death of 21-year-old Demartravion “Trey” Reed, found hanging on campus.
