Body found in Pearl River confirmed to be missing Jackson man

SUMMARY: The body of missing Belhaven man Dau Mabil was found in the Pearl River in Lawrence County. The autopsy did not show any signs of foul play, but further testing is pending for an official determination. Mabil was last seen in Jackson in March 2024. Attorney Lisa Ross has obtained an order to prevent the burial or cremation of Mabil’s remains until an autopsy can be conducted. U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson has requested the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Mabil’s disappearance. Thompson aims to support a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mabil’s disappearance.
