Blitz 16 Preview: Jackson Prep
SUMMARY: The M-A-I-S season kicks off tomorrow night, with all teams in 6-A aiming to take down the reigning champions, Jackson Prep. Jackson Prep won the state championship last year and is entering this season with a better understanding of their coach’s system. The team has made changes to their offense, while their defense remains strong with several key players returning. Although they are now the team to beat, Jackson Prep is embracing the challenge and is focused on repeating their championship success. They will start their 2023 campaign at home this Friday night.

The full MAIS football slate kicks off on Friday night and one team everyone is gunning for 6A will be the Jackson Prep Patriots. They are coming off a state championship and they did that with first year head coach Doug Goodwin. Now the Patriots hope to run it back. With a stout defense and a reworked offense they hope to stay on top of the competition in 6A.

West Jackson residents frustrated by years-long wait for street repairs
SUMMARY: Residents of West Jackson are frustrated by the long wait for street repairs. Mr. Johnson, a local, voiced his concerns over a growing pothole on Denver and Long Street, demanding full repairs instead of temporary patches. Despite some recent repair attempts, the hole persists due to ongoing water drainage issues from nearby apartments. City workers, including an employee named Isaac, explained that the water flow must be stopped before permanent fixes can occur. The area also suffers from illegal dumping, with tires being placed around the pothole as a makeshift barrier, further adding to residents’ frustrations.
