Long-standing partnership leads to new public, nature-based recreation amenity in Ocean Springs
SUMMARY: A mile-long trail featuring a raised boardwalk in Ocean Springs, Mississippi was completed through a partnership between Mississippi State's Gulf Coast Community Design Studio and the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain. The trail, located on Land Trust property, passes through a forest and marsh wetlands, providing educational opportunities and views of Old Fort Bayou. The GCCDS provided design services and construction oversight for the project. The boardwalk and trail system create a significant amenity for residents and the public. Community engagement was included in the project, and funding was provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain aims to conserve and protect open and green spaces.

Memorial Announces 2024 Board of Trustees Officers
SUMMARY: Memorial Health System in Gulfport, Miss, announced its 2024 Board of Trustees officers. Carlos Bell is the Chairman, Bob Sawyer is the Vice Chairman, and Dr. Thad Carter is the Secretary. Other members include Gary Fredericks, Carrolyn R. Hamilton, Cara Pucheu, and David H. White. Bell is accomplished in project management and civil engineering, Sawyer is a financial advisor and volunteer, and Dr. Carter is a retired urologist. The Board's decisions are based on core strategies of Population-Based Services, Safety, Quality, and Customer Satisfaction, Work Environment, and Finance. Meetings occur regularly on the second, third, and fourth Mondays of each month at noon.

WXXV Student Athlete of the Week: Pass Christian’s Ariana Crimm
SUMMARY: Ariana Crimm, the WXXV Student Athlete of the Week, picked up basketball in sixth grade and has since become a respected and vocal leader on her varsity team. She plays and practices basketball tirelessly, and she sees the court as an escape that helps her cope with mental health struggles. This season is her last as a Pirate, but she plans to continue playing at the next level, possibly aiming for a community college before moving on to Division I basketball and maybe even the pros. Her coach believes her best basketball is still ahead of her.
