Hyde-Smith announces $19 million for miss. banks to support loans and investments in underserved communities
SUMMARY: U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith announced that $19.0 million will be awarded to 48 Mississippi-based rural banks and financial institutions. This funding is intended to aid loans and investments in economically impoverished areas. The grants come from the FY2023 Bank Enterprise Award Program (BEA Program), which is overseen by the U.S. Department of the Treasury Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund). Hyde-Smith emphasized the importance of these grants to Mississippi, as they help provide crucial financial support to small businesses and startups in rural, economically disadvantaged regions, which would face difficulties in obtaining loans otherwise.

WXXV Student-Athlete of the Week: Hancock Football’s Dylan Moran
SUMMARY: The Hancock Hawks are currently the only high school football team on Missisippi's Gulf Coast with a perfect 4-0 record. Their form is largely down to the exceptional performance of quarterback, Dylan Moran, who has already thrown for over 800 yards and 14 touchdowns, against one interception. Moran's family has a history of football; his father was an offensive lineman for two-time Super Bowl champion, Eli Manning, and his cousin was a quarterback before becoming a private coach. Although the team is under pressure, they are using it to fuel their ambition of winning a district championship.
