Waveland City Council approves Gulf Grove Apartment extension
SUMMARY: Waveland city council has approved a two-week extension for Gulf Grove Apartment residents after the property was deemed condemned. The decision came after residents, including veterans, disabled individuals, and single mothers, were given only 30 days to vacate the property. Building officials found issues with fire suppression systems and mold in the units. Despite the extension, residents continue to express the need for more time and resources for relocation. The council plans to work with agencies to help residents find housing by the deadline on May 29th. The next hearing will provide a progress report on the 36 residents in need of assistance.
Back in April, the city condemned the property, giving tenants 30 days to vacate their units by May 15.
