Auto event in Biloxi proves hotspot for state’s new squatted vehicle law
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s law banning squatted vehicles—those with front bumpers raised four inches or more above the rear fender—has been in effect since July 2024. At the recent Scrapin the Coast event in Biloxi, law enforcement issued 406 citations over two days, with 120 specifically for squatted vehicles. The law, signed by Gov. Tate Reeves, fines offenders \$100 for a first offense, \$200 for a second, and \$300 plus a one-year license suspension for a third. Legislators cite safety concerns, including reduced visibility and rollover risks, referencing a fatal accident involving a child. Fines fund driver education programs. This year’s total tickets dropped from 517 in 2024 to 406.

SUMMARY: Ole Miss linebacker Tyler Banks has been named the 2025 Chucky Mullins Courage Award winner and will wear the No. 38 jersey in honor of Mullins. Banks, a senior from Virginia and three-year letterwinner, is the 35th recipient of the award, which honors Mullins, who was paralyzed during a 1989 game and passed away in 1991. Head coach Lane Kiffin praised Banks for his perseverance, leadership, and dedication on and off the field. Banks has played in all 39 games since 2022, mainly on special teams, and serves on the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The award recognizes courage and determination.
