AT&T says the outage to its US cellphone network was not caused by a cyberattack

SUMMARY: AT&T experienced a hourslong outage on its U.S. cellphone network due to a technical error and not a cyber attack. The outage affected thousands of users across the country and was attributed to an error in coding as the company expanded its network. Similar outages were reported by Cricket Wireless, also owned by AT&T. Other carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile reported issues likely stemming from trying to connect to AT&T users. The Federal Communications Commission, Department of Homeland Security, and FBI were investigating the outage. Capitol Hill also expressed concern and efforts were made to prevent future incidents.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
