At least 16 dead in Maine mass killing and police hunt for the shooter as residents take shelter
SUMMARY: A mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine caused panic and numerous fatalities, with at least 16 people reported killed and many more injured. Suspect Robert Card, a supposed firearms instructor and Army Reserve member, reportedly has a history of mental health issues. Two local businesses, Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation, a popular bowling alley, were targeted. The bowling alley was hosting a children’s bowling league at the time of the shooting. Following the attack, a shelter-in-place advisory was issued for Androscoggin County. This incident marks the 36th mass killing in the US this year.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting. James, 53, remains at large and is wanted for murder and other charges. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gulfport Police or Crime Stoppers.
