Alabama man revoked and sentenced to 20 years after new felony arrest for strangling son

SUMMARY: Diquane Zimar Mitchell, a 39-year-old from Highland Home, Alabama, has had his parole from a 2011 felony armed robbery conviction revoked after he was on felony aggravated assault and domestic violence charges. Mitchell, who violated his parole by failing to for 19 consecutive months, has been to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The new charges followed an alleged assault and strangulation of his son. Mitchell admitted to the allegations at his hearing.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
