After the Storm: Tupelo plant back to work after being hit by tornado
SUMMARY: After the Storm, sponsored by Southern Housing, discussed the progress made nearly one year after a tornado hit Cooper Tire (now Goodyear) in Monroe and Montgomery counties. Despite significant damage, zero injuries were reported thanks to quick decision-making. The tornado caused extensive damage, but the community came together to clean up debris and rebuild the plant. Production was halted for two months, affecting over 1,700 employees. However, with community support, the plant was restored, and manufacturing director Kobe Claude Felter says they came back stronger. The factory is now fully operational, showing resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
Monday marks one year since a tornado hit a plant in the City of Tupelo.
