ACT announces changes aimed to help improve test scores
SUMMARY: The ACT’s science section will soon become optional for Mississippi students, allowing them to focus on other subjects. Changes starting in Spring 2025 for the online test and in Spring 2026 for the paper test include a reduction from 215 to 171 questions and the introduction of online testing. Educators like Choctaw County High School Principal James Catchot believe these adjustments will enhance student performance, as more time on each question may lead to improved scores. The ACT is crucial for college admissions and scholarships, with around 80 scholarships specifically requiring ACT scores.
