A rising track star aims to represent Mississippi on a national stage

SUMMARY: The AAU Junior Olympics is taking place this year and a middle schooler named Brennan Lacy is competing in three sprinting events. Lacy, who has strong ties to Mississippi, recently moved to Texas but still considers himself a Mississippi kid. His parents are proud of his accomplishments and see it as a big moment for the Lacy family name. Lacy has been inspired by famous track stars and is determined to make it to the top. His journey continues in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 1st where he will make his Junior Olympics debut in the 100 meter.

Middle school track sensation Brennen Lacey calls Mississippi home. Despite now living in Frisco, Texas he wants to put the Magnolia State on the map in the upcoming AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa in August. Brennen’s parents are products of Canton High School and they also love the state of Mississippi. With their son running in three different events they are confident he will represent their family and the Magnolia State very well on the national stage.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. Afternoon storms may bring gusty winds and hail, though severe weather is not expected. Monday follows a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
