To address this, EDAA Community College sponsors the Tech to Go camp, now in its 16th year, which provides high school students with hands-on experience in modern manufacturing. Originating in Northeast Mississippi, the camp has expanded statewide and nationwide. Seventeen students attended this year, creating their own aluminum name plates, metal clocks, and spray-painted plaques. The camp aims to expose students to potential career paths in the industry, which has evolved beyond its “greasy and dirty” past. Teachers also participated to gain insights into advanced manufacturing.
