Mississippi doctor confirmed dead following plane crash in Arkansas

SUMMARY: Federal authorities are investigating a plane crash in Clinton, Arkansas, that resulted in the of 68-year-old Robert Phillip Mathis, a doctor from Mississippi. The crash occurred on Tuesday around 2:27 p.m. after Mathis experienced a “trim issue” shortly after departing Fayetteville. A small fire erupted post- but was contained. The Federal Aviation Administration had alerted dispatchers about a plane facing engine failure before the crash. Mathis, who was alone and previously a surgeon at Magnolia Center, was flying a Beech 58 Baron owned by Mathis Timber LLC. The National Transportation Safety Board is involved in the investigation.
