LIVE: Tullis Gardens Hotel and Casino development in jeopardy

SUMMARY: The effort to build the new Tullis Gardens Manor in East Biloxi may be dead due to pending legislation that rewrites the law on where casinos can and cannot build. Developers initially planned to build a hotel in a replica of the Tullis Manor, but economic studies showed that a casino attached would be necessary for viability. Senate Bill 2780, which changes the rules on casinos, could kill the project as it is adjacent to a sand beach. Developers have already invested $2 million into the project and are concerned about the potential impact of the pending legislation. Live updates will be provided at 10 pm.
