SUMMARY: Despite occasional showers, thunderstorms and cloudy spells, hot weather is prevailing, together with a full Buck Moon set to appear 7% larger and brighter than usual. For the 4th of July, there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms in the morning, increasing in the afternoon due to daytime heating. Any unfavorable conditions should improve by the evening, enabling most, if not all, festivities to proceed. This unstable pattern of scattered thunderstorms may persist until the end of the week, followed by a return to the more usual pattern of hot temperatures and airmass thunderstorms over the weekend.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
