Severe thunderstorms are possible late Friday afternoon into the overnight hours in some parts of Mississippi. Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, especially through the Delta region where wind gusts over 40 mph are possible.

Northern Mississippi–

Breezy with showers and thunderstorms possible thought tonight, some of the evening thunderstorms could be severe. Highs will be in the upper 70s, with lows tonight in the upper 50s.

Central Mississippi–

Breezy today, with showers and thunderstorms possible through tonight. Some of the evening thunderstorms could be severe. Highs will be in the lower 80s, with lows tonight in the lower 60s.

Southern Mississippi–

Mostly cloudy with a slight of showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon, then more likely into the evening. Highs…

Mississippi woman accused of stealing $70K in SNAP benefits

SUMMARY: Harris from Pike County, Mississippi, was for SNAP fraud after receiving nearly $70,000 in by providing inaccurate information to the Mississippi Department of Human Service. She surrendered to authorities on March 26 after an investigation revealed she did not household income and composition accurately. The case was referred to the Pike County District Attorney's office, resulting in an indictment secured on March 5. Harris turned herself in on March 26. Suspected fraud can be reported to MDHS online, by phone, or via email.

Senatobia mother says two teen daughters wrongfully arrested by police

SUMMARY: A Senatobia mother is seeking justice after her two daughters were wrongly and sent to a juvenile facility in Corinth a disturbance at a public housing while were collecting evidence from a shooting scene. The mother claims the girls were assaulted by police, and one of them may have been during the incident. The girls were released to their mother after a court hearing but are essentially on house arrest. Police stated that a large crowd caused a disturbance and several people, the girls, were taken into custody for not complying.
