8/10 – Chris’s “HUMID FLOW” Thursday afternoon forecast
SUMMARY: An excessive heat warning is in place until 7pm today with heat indices of 110-116 expected, making it feel like the hottest day of the week. Windy conditions are also expected. There is a similar excessive heat watch from 11am-7pm on Friday. Weather through the weekend will remain hot, in the upper 90s, with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday. Normal summer weather resumes on Sunday with temperatures in the mid 90s and an increased chance of thunderstorms. Although temperatures will drop to the low 90s by next Wednesday, it's still above average, providing little relief from the current heatwave.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies
SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
