Despite the possibility of some clouds, sunny conditions are set to dominate, leading to soaring temperatures in the 90s which could feel like 105-110 degrees. The heat is set to intensify through the week, with strong high pressure and air motion driving the conditions. Mid-week temperatures could reach the upper 90s and feel over 110 degrees. Heat alerts will be in effect and the public are advised to limit outdoor activities.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
