4-Star WR Dillon Alfred transfers from Gautier to Saraland (AL)
SUMMARY: Four-star wide receiver Dillon Alfred, who led the Gautier football program to its best season in over 20 years, is set to transfer to Saraland High School, Alabama’s defending 6A State champions. The rising junior, who recorded 57 receptions for nearly 1,200 yards in 2022, is the second-ranked receiver in Mississippi for the class of 2025. He has received Power 5 offers from several universities. Alfred will join an already powerful Saraland team, led by four-star Texas commit K.J. Lacey and five-star Alabama commit Ryan Williams.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting.
