3 locals are projected to go early in the MLB Draft

SUMMARY: This weekend marks a significant event for Mississippi as three local players might all be selected in the first round of the draft. The top prospects include Madison Central’s Braden Montgomery, slated as a top-five pick after playing for Stanford and Texas A&M, potentially going fourth to Oakland. Jackson Prep’s Connor Griffin, a national award-winner, is projected as a top-15 pick and the ninth overall prospect. MSU Bulldog Dakota Jordan, a Ferriss Trophy winner, could be selected between picks 30 and 39. Other potential draftees include MSU players Jaramillo, Sanchez, Kyle Stevens, Nate Dohm, and Madison Central’s Hunter Hinds.

Baseball in Mississippi could have the spotlight on it once again during the MLB Draft this weekend. Three players from the Metro-Braden Montgomery (Madison Central High School), Konnor Griffin (Jackson Prep) and Dakota Jordan (Jackson Academy, Mississippi State) could all be drafted in the first round. The MLB Draft is this Sunday at 6pm and Joe Cook has the preview.
