www.ozarksfirst.com – Jesse Inman – 2025-04-30 07:39:00

SUMMARY: Springfield is experiencing its worst power outage event since 2007, caused by storms with winds up to 90 mph that toppled trees and power lines. City Utilities declared a large-scale emergency Tuesday, calling in mutual-aid crews. Approximately 26,500 people remain without power as of early Wednesday, about half the peak outage number. Crews are working around the clock but progress is slow, especially overnight. Priorities include restoring power to critical locations like hospitals and areas where repairs can restore electricity to many customers quickly. Customers with damaged weather heads or service points face longer repair times. The utility warns against approaching downed power lines.

‘One tentacle’ of int’l crime ring dismantled in St. Louis

www.youtube.com – FOX 2 St. Louis – 2025-09-05 18:25:59

SUMMARY: Federal prosecutors have dismantled a St. Louis-based “tentacle” of an international crime ring involving Romanian nationals who installed ATM skimmers to steal banking info. Five suspects, arrested in a Florissant home in 2024, were sentenced to prison terms and will be deported. These skimmers, tiny devices hidden on ATMs with pinhole cameras, capture customers’ card data and PINs, making detection difficult for the average user. The group, part of a larger network operating nationwide, often targets St. Louis. Authorities note similar Romanian criminal rings involved in thefts over recent years, emphasizing ongoing vigilance amid increasingly sophisticated skimming tactics.

Five Romanian nationals, who federal prosecutors say came here solely with the purpose of skimming money from your atm transaction, are now going to prison.
