SUMMARY: The reigning 3-A MAIS champion, Canton Academy, is preparing for another successful season. They have some young players who need to gain experience, while the whole team is trying to improve. The team understands that each year needs to be different in order to keep winning. They are now the team that everyone is trying to beat, and they have a tough schedule ahead. Despite being a young team, they have enough veteran players to lead them back to the state final. The team is focused on the present and understands the challenge ahead.

Sports Director Joe Cook shows us how Canton Academy is adapting from going from the hunters to the hunted after winning the 2022 state title in our latest Blitz 16 Preview.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. Afternoon storms may bring gusty winds and hail, though severe weather is not expected. Monday follows a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
