16-year-old dies in accident at Mar-Jac Poultry plant

SUMMARY: A 16-year-old Hispanic male died at a local chicken processing plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi after an accident. The cause of his death is pending, but an autopsy is being done to determine the cause. The employee died at the scene, and the company has notified the OSHA office. Mar-Jac Poultry, the company involved, reports that the accident occurred last week around 8 p.m. The employee was conducting sanitation operations when the accident happened. Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem identified the employee and stated that an autopsy is being done to identify the cause of his death.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. on July 14 at the Hattiesburg poultry processing plant on James Street.
