Sister of Mississippi man who died after police pulled him from car rejects lawsuit settlement
SUMMARY: A woman rejected a settlement from Jackson, Mississippi after officials disclosed the amount they would pay her for her brother's death at the hands of three police officers. George Robinson died in 2019 after being pulled from a car by the officers. The city settled for $17,786, but the woman's attorney claimed the city violated a confidentiality agreement and will continue to sue. The lawsuit alleged that the officers brutally beat Robinson, who had not committed any crime. One officer was convicted of negligence manslaughter, but his conviction was later overturned. Additionally, the woman's son was killed by an off-duty police officer, leading to a separate investigation.
