City of Columbia wraps up water, sewer project
SUMMARY: The city of Columbia recently completed a million-dollar project to upgrade water and sewer services in northern areas. Funded by a $600,000 federal Community Development block grant, the project involved replacing and repairing water and sewer lines, along with adding stormwater inlets on streets such as Conor Mason, Hawkins, Jones, and North Main. The grant covered over half of the costs, with the remainder sourced from city water and sewer fees. The project focused on minor repairs rather than extensive line replacements, utilizing cleaning and camera inspections to identify issues, while also including street repaving.
