With a massive ark and museum, he spreads creationism a century after Scopes trial. He’s not alone
SUMMARY: The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, is a massive, literal replica of Noah’s Ark, built to promote a young-Earth creationist view that the biblical flood story is historically true. Founded by Ken Ham and his organization Answers in Genesis, the theme park and the Creation Museum argue against mainstream science, advocating for a 6,000-year-old Earth and biblical creationism. Despite widespread scientific consensus supporting evolution and an ancient Earth, polls show a significant portion of Americans still support creationist beliefs. The project is part of a broader cultural and religious effort to defend biblical literalism amid ongoing debates over science education and religious freedom.

Dogs rescued from 'extremely neglectful conditions'
SUMMARY: More than 100 dogs were rescued from extremely neglectful conditions in a Cheatham County home, where a large-scale breeding operation had gone unchecked. Rescuers wore respirators due to strong ammonia smells caused by urine and feces everywhere. Officials found 113 dogs, many malnourished and some infected; one was dead. Infrared cameras were used to ensure no animals remained hidden inside walls or furniture. Neighbors were aware of barking but unaware of the scale. Animal control and the sheriff’s office are investigating, with charges pending. Rescued dogs were taken to a local emergency shelter for treatment before moving to adoption centers.
The smell was so strong that rescuers had to wear respirators just to go inside the Joelton home.

Surveillance footage shows multiple suspects approaching the home, with one pointing a gun at the door and window. The homeowner and neighbors now live in fear, concerned about repeat attempts. Under Tennessee’s stand-your-ground law, deadly force is allowed only if life is threatened, not just property. Residents like Marlo Matthews argue the law should change to let homeowners better protect their homes and deter criminals.
