West Point Police warns businesses about scam

SUMMARY: West Point Police have warned local businesses about an impersonation scam affecting a restaurant in the area. Scammers call businesses, claiming to be law enforcement investigating fake currency, and threaten employees with jail time if they don’t comply. They instruct victims to withdraw money and purchase gift cards, pressuring them to stay on the line. Police urge businesses to recognize these red flags, emphasizing that legitimate authorities do not call to request money transfers. Recent investigative efforts prevented further losses, and the restaurant’s funds were recovered. More information about scams is available on the police department’s website.
