Tips for making extra cash with a high-yield savings account | NBC4 Washington
SUMMARY: Consumer reporter Susan Hogan highlights a simple way to make extra cash using high-yield savings accounts, offering nearly 5% APY compared to around 0.2% at traditional banks. For example, $5,000 in a traditional account earns about $5 annually, while a 4% high-yield account yields $200. Most high-yield accounts are online and FDIC insured, protecting your money like a regular bank. Interest rates may be variable, and some accounts have fees or minimums, so shop around. Use resources like Bankrate.com or NerdWallet for comparisons. This method provides easy cash growth without extra work or side hustles.

Do you want to make money without having to do anything? It all starts with where you have your savings. Consumer Reporter Susan Hogan reports.

Dominion Energy aims for 4,000 miles of underground power lines to curb outages
SUMMARY: Dominion Energy is working to reduce power outages by installing underground power lines, aiming to place 4,000 miles statewide underground, including 500 miles in Hampton Roads and Norfolk. Tree limbs causing damage to overhead lines are the leading cause of outages, especially during storms. So far, Dominion has converted about 2,500 miles of overhead lines to underground, cutting outage durations dramatically—from about 11 hours to under 2 minutes in communities with underground lines. Recent storms with winds near 65 mph caused thousands of outages, highlighting the importance of this underground power strategy as hurricane season approaches.

Dominion Energy crews are repairing storm damage as they enhance strategies to reduce future power outages.
