SUMMARY: After a decade of speculation, a verdict is expected soon in the murder trial of Crystal Rogers, who vanished in 2015. Brooks Houck, her ex-boyfriend, faces charges of complicity in her murder and evidence tampering, while Joseph Lawson is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors accuse Houck of lying about his whereabouts on the day Rogers disappeared and avoiding family calls, whereas the defense claims insufficient evidence and labels the case as speculative. After nine days of trial and intense closing arguments, the jury will begin deliberations tomorrow. Houck faces 20 years to life if convicted; Lawson could receive up to 25 years.

The defense teams for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson spoke for more than four hours trying to convince jurors there is not enough evidence for a conviction.

SUMMARY: Misty Noel, who pleaded guilty to theft and tax evasion linked to Jamie Noel’s crimes, may now face trial after maintaining her innocence in a key televised interview. Judge Larry Medlock noticed contradictions between her public statements and her guilty plea, as she denied knowingly committing the crimes. On July 3rd, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but her interview prompted the judge to order a hearing to consider whether she gave false testimony during her plea and if her plea agreement should be set aside. If so, her fate could be decided by a jury. No hearing date has yet been set.

Misty Noel's guilty plea in question after judge watches TV interview

Published

www.youtube.com – WLKY News Louisville – 2025-07-07 16:06:26

SUMMARY: Misty Knoll’s guilty plea to theft and tax evasion connected to Jamie Knoll’s crimes is now in question after Judge Medlock watched her TV interview. The judge filed an order potentially setting aside her plea, noting Knoll’s claims during the interview that she did not knowingly and intentionally commit the crimes. In the interview, she expressed remorse but denied intentional wrongdoing, contradicting her guilty plea. This development may lead to Knoll facing a jury trial. Her attorney now must argue against contempt of court charges for making these public statements. The timing of any trial remains uncertain.

SUMMARY: After a holiday weekend marked by pop-up storms, a frontal boundary in the Ohio Valley brings scattered showers and storms to Central and Eastern Kentucky. Despite this, Monday’s highs reached the upper 80s with sunshine. The unsettled weather will continue Tuesday with scattered afternoon storms, heavy rain, and gusty winds possible, but no widespread severe weather expected. From Wednesday to Friday, a warm, humid, and repetitive pattern persists with daily afternoon storms fading by night and highs in the mid to upper 80s.
