US stocks drift as Wall Street heads for the finish of a big winning week
SUMMARY: Wall Street is finishing a strong week, with the S\&P 500 up 0.1% and heading for its fifth straight gain, boosted by hopes that President Trump will reduce tariffs after reaching trade deals. This would bring the index within 3.6% of its February record. The Dow was down slightly, and the Nasdaq gained 0.2%. Despite concerns over tariffs and their potential impact on inflation and the economy, recent positive inflation reports have alleviated some fears. In stock news, Charter Communications rose after merging with Cox Communications, while Novo Nordisk’s stock fell due to CEO changes.
