SUMMARY: Portier Q. Govan, 37, of Memphis, was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release for sex trafficking in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Govan and co-defendant Brittany R. Howard, 25, recruited a young victim by exploiting her financial situation with false promises. In August 2022, officers found the victim at a hotel where Govan and Howard forced her into commercial sex, controlling her through threats and violence, including Govan firing a gun near her head. Both were arrested and charged. The FBI and Bowling Green Police jointly investigated the case, leading to Govan’s conviction in December 2024.
