UK’s Starmer convenes ‘coalition of the willing’ for second meeting to discuss Ukraine
SUMMARY: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is hosting a virtual meeting of global leaders to discuss the war in Ukraine and Russia’s potential acceptance of a 30-day ceasefire. Unlike the prior summit, approximately 25 nations, including European allies and Ukraine, will participate, with notable absences from the U.S. amidst shifting strategies under President Trump. Starmer emphasizes the need for concrete commitments if Russia is serious about peace, criticizing President Putin for delaying tactics. As Ukraine faces increasing military pressure, Starmer calls for an end to Russian attacks and urges immediate action towards a ceasefire.
