U.S. House Republicans push through massive tax and spending bill slashing Medicaid
SUMMARY: The U.S. House approved a major Republican-backed bill in a 215-214 vote early Thursday, after months of negotiations between centrists and far-right factions. The bill, which includes tax cuts, increased spending on defense and border security, and deep Medicaid cuts, now heads to the Senate for revisions. President Trump supports the House version. The 1,116-page package also includes provisions on energy, higher education, and food aid. Some Republicans opposed the bill, citing concerns about its fiscal impact, while Democrats criticized it as harmful to low-income families. The bill is expected to pass before the July 4th deadline.
